Renewable energy for a sustainable world

Being highly concerned with the preservation and the responsible use of natural resources, Fazendas Reunidas Vale do Juliana (FRVJ) has invested in the use of renewable energy. In doing so, the natural features of the region, such as the high rain rates and the potential to development fishing activities, which are already developed in the current reservoirs with the generation of hydraulic energy, are greatly improved.

Juliana Energética, which was inaugurated in August 2008, is formed by three Central Hydraulic Energy Generators (CGH’s). Juliana I, Juliana II, and Vargido generate energy at 150kW, 400kW and 300kW, respectively. This offers a total installed capacity of 850 kW. Within the sustainable electric system, the CGH’s offers many environmental advantages, as it does not utilize great flooded areas and this, in turn, preserves the region’s wild biodiversity of the region’s fauna and flora.

Besides diversifying access to electric energy and the reduction of pollution and the global warming gas emissions, the generation of energy with this renewable source will cater to the needs of rural producers from the most remote communities. This will improve their agriculture productivity and life quality and will reduce their need to migrate from the countryside to more urban areas.
